There are certain issues with the funeral procedures of foreigners to be buried in Turkey. The first thing to do is to obtain the death certificate obtained within the scope of foreign funeral services for this process as well. The death certificate is issued by different institutions depending on the cause and place of death of the deceased foreigner. If the death of the foreigner occurred at home due to natural causes, a physician is requested by applying to the municipality to which the place of death is connected. The death certificate is issued by the authorized physician assigned by the municipality. If the foreign citizen is taken to the Forensic Medicine Institution for autopsy, the death certificate is issued by the relevant institution, and if the foreign citizen died in the hospital due to natural causes, the death certificate is issued by the authorized doctor in charge at the hospital. The death certificate is received from the relevant institution by the first-degree relative of the deceased foreign citizen. With the death certificate received, the Formula C document (multilingual death certificate) must be obtained by applying to the relevant population directorate.

Formula C document is among the important documents required for funeral transportation services abroad. Following the receipt of the relevant documents, the documents must be submitted to the Provincial Governorship where the burial will take place and approval must be obtained. For the death notification of a foreign citizen, the first-degree relatives of the deceased person must notify the consulates or embassies. In the death notifications to be made to consulates or embassies, the death certificate of the deceased foreigner and passport information, if any, must be submitted. After the executed procedures, the burial of the deceased foreign citizen can be realized by applying to the cemetery directorate with the prepared documents.
